User Scenarios
With Nexus you have the ability to perform functions with little extra work on your part. Here are several scenarios we believe will be of interest. These examples give the end user perspective and how Nexus can provide a solution. In the Command / Reply Examples section, we'll take these same scenarios and give you a step-by-step look at the commands you'd need to use in order to implement the Nexus Solution.
Scenario #1
Your air staff is solid, but every once in a while they pick a song that just makes you cringe. You wonder where they dug it up. You really wish they couldn't even consider some songs at all.
Nexus Solution
Using Nexus your automation system has the ability to ask MusicMaster what would be the best songs in that position. It might be the top-10 or the top-five, whatever you like. You could even specify that you only wanted to see songs that met every single rule in MusicMaster at that time. This type of integration gives your air staff the power of MusicMaster without needlessly complicating their work. They'll pick a song through the automation system, but you'll have the confidence of knowing your programming goals will still be met.
Scenario #2
Your log has an extra song or two in each hour just in case something happens or your air staff drops songs so they never play. Either way, this means the songs have lost their turn to air, which could impact your rotations.
Nexus Solution
With real time log reconciliation, an automation system can tell Nexus a song was added, dropped or moved. This means when you schedule your next log you will have the most up-to-date histories allowing MusicMaster to continue to schedule the best possible songs for tomorrow's log.
Scenario #3
Your station is known for being on top of all the news and information in your format. Your listeners turn to you because you deliver. When there is a new concert announcement or a tragic death by one of your artists, your air staff scrambles to add that music to the play list.
Nexus Solution
Make those changes in MusicMaster as you normally would. Once you are done "publish" the log to the automation system. This feature gives you the power to change a songs in today’s log without overwriting voice tracks or any other elements already in the log. The automation system will instantaneously have the updated songs.
Scenario #4
A new song is added to your automation system. You have to create a song card in MusicMaster and replicate some of that same information. The situation could also be reversed where the song is added in MusicMaster and then has to be added in the automation system. Either way, it's a duplication of work that you'd like to avoid.
Nexus Solution
No matter where the song is added, have it added to the other. If you added a song in MusicMaster, Nexus can tell your automation system so it is queued to be recorded and readied for playback. Conversely, it is possible to add the song in the automation system and then see that song appear instantly in the MusicMaster database. Even better, the song will include basic information like ID number, which means less data entry for you.
Scenario #5
Are you tired of scheduling a 4:55 version of a song only to find out the song is actually 3:55, throwing off your hour timing?
Nexus Solution
With Nexus the runtime can always be accurate with the automation system updating the runtime when any change is made to the song.
Scenario #6
You do a lot of research to make sure your station sounds great. Typing all those research scores in from your research company is a time-consuming project.
Nexus Solution
Library information can be updated using Nexus. In fact, you can update multiple fields on the same song at the same time.
Scenario #7
If your air staff is going to change a scheduled song, you prefer they do it from designated Song Lists you have created in MusicMaster
Nexus Solution
Using Nexus, your automation system has the ability to ask MusicMaster to display the songs in a specific Song List, allowing the air staff to select a song from the list.
These are just some of the ways Nexus can help your organization be more efficient and stream-line various work-flows.
